New Delhi: The Election Commission is set to announce a pan-India Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list on Monday evening, officials said.
Although the official invitation simply states that the EC will hold a press conference at 4.15 pm, sources confirmed that the briefing will focus on the comprehensive revision of electoral rolls.
The poll body is expected to unveil the first phase of the SIR, which will cover around 10 to 15 states — including those heading for Assembly elections in 2026.
Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry are among the states and Union Territory scheduled to go to polls next year.
