Thiruvananthapuram: Deshabhimani Resident Editor M Swaraj has dismissed media reports regarding the non-publication of the newspaper's weekly Sunday supplement as baseless, stating that the issue was caused solely by technical reasons. He said the supplement could not be printed and would instead be distributed along with Monday's newspaper.

V S Achuthanandan's remembrance day falls on July 21. As the preceding Sunday coincided with the occasion, this week's weekly supplement, along with a special page for the July 21 edition, had already been prepared in advance. The highlight of the supplement was a commemorative article on V S Achuthanandan written by K V Sudhakaran.

However, Swaraj said the supplement could not be printed on Sunday because of technical problems. A machine malfunction at a private press attached to one of the newspaper's printing units disrupted the process. Printing had been shifted to another unit over the past two days, and difficulties in completing the printing on schedule led to the Sunday supplement being postponed to Monday.

Swaraj also said it was inappropriate to drag a leader like V S Achuthanandan into unnecessary controversy without first verifying the facts.
