West Bengal Migrant Worker’s Question to Rahul Gandhi on Development Cut Short by Congress Leaders

Kochi: What happens when a guest worker from Bengal dares to ask a tough question at a Congress event? Apparently, he gets his microphone snatched. This was the scene during the maha panchayath in Kochi, attended by Rahul Gandhi, when a young man from Bengal raised a simple question: “Kerala has developed, so why has Bengal fallen behind?”

As the story goes, KC Venugopal invited anyone who wanted to speak to Rahul Gandhi. The young man politely said, “Hello Rahul Sir,” and tried to raise a point about development. But before he could finish, Congress leaders swooped in and took the microphone away.

Shafi Parambil MP reportedly declared that questions should stick to MGNREGA, leaving no room for broader development debates. Meanwhile, video footage shows some leaders nudging the young man to speak in English, despite his insistence that Rahul Gandhi could understand Hindi. Undeterred, he tried to persist, but alas, the stage managers had other plans.

The clip is now going viral, sparking criticism of Congress leaders for what many see as a less-than-warm welcome to candid questioning, reminding us that sometimes, at Congress events, the mic is mightier than the question.
