Kannur: K. Sudhakaran has assured that he will contest in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections and will once again request the High Command to allocate him a seat. However, the High Command maintains its stance that only MPs should contest and will not make any special concession for Sudhakaran. If he is not granted a seat, Sudhakaran is likely to take strict action, including withdrawing from the election campaign.

Sudhakaran claims that he was assured of contesting from the Kannur seat when he was removed from the post of KPCC president. Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are expected to speak with Sudhakaran, who has arrived in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Sudhakaran's supporters have put up flex boards and posters in Kannur again. Apart from Sudhakaran, M.K. Raghavan and Adoor Prakash are also expressing their readiness to contest and exerting pressure.

Despite announcing candidates days ago, Congress remains in a crisis, unable to announce a single candidate. The UDF, which had previously stated that it would announce candidates in the second week of February, is facing challenges. In several areas, Congress workers, dissatisfied with the candidate selection, have taken to the streets in public protests.
