Thiruvananthapuram: CITU State President T P Ramakrishnan has accused the UDF government of adopting a hostile approach towards KSRTC employees since assuming office.

Speaking while inaugurating a relay hunger strike led by the Kerala State Road Transport Employees Association (KSRTEA) in front of Transport Bhavan against what it described as illegal transfers, Ramakrishnan said such an approach had never been witnessed during previous changes in government.

He alleged that association workers were being selectively targeted and transferred, and blamed the INTUC leadership for creating the current situation. According to him, INTUC was acting against the interests of KSRTC workers.

Ramakrishnan called on employees to unite beyond trade union affiliations to protect both KSRTC and its workforce.

The protest meeting was chaired by C M Siddique, Ernakulam East district president.

As part of the intensified agitation, the relay hunger strike being held at both gates of Transport Bhavan entered its third day, while the overall protest entered its 26th day.

State Secretary S Sujith Kumar and Vice President A Ansar observed the hunger strike on Wednesday. Activists from the Ernakulam (East) and Alappuzha districts participated in the protest.

CITU State Secretary K.S. Sunilkumar, Association Working President C.K. Harikrishnan, General Secretary Honey Balachandran, Sajith T.S. Kumar, P.A. Jojo, K. Sreekumar and K. Anilkumar also addressed the gathering.
