Students Protest RSS-Backed Event at Central University of Kerala

Kasaragod: Students at the Central University of Kerala in Periya, Kasaragod, united in protest against a Sangh Parivar programme organised on the campus in connection with the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. SFI, AISF, NSUI and MSF students' organisations joined the protest.

Students raised their shoes and shouted “RSS Go Back” slogans, warning against what they described as attempts to promote a saffron agenda on the campus.

The programme was organised jointly by the School of Languages and Comparative Literature and the Sahitya Akademi. Students alleged that the event was hijacked by the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad, an organisation considered supportive of the RSS.

Students had protested against an RSS-backed seminar on the previous day and were subjected to brutal police assault. They also alleged that false propaganda was carried out against students who participated in the protest.

In protest against these developments, the students intensified their agitation.
