Kasaragod/Manjeri: Bomb threat emails were received at district courts in different parts of Kerala on Thursday, prompting security alerts and emergency inspections at the Kasaragod and Manjeri court complexes.

In Kasaragod, the threat message reached the District Court’s official email ID at around 11 am. Following the alert, authorities immediately evacuated the court complex and deployed a bomb disposal squad. After a detailed search of the premises, police said no suspicious objects were found. A case will be registered and an investigation launched on the direction of the District Police Chief, a police officer said.

A similar threat was reported at the Manjeri District Court, where an email claimed that bombs had been planted at two locations within the court complex. The message was received at around 10.30 am. Court staff informed the Superintendent of Police, following which bomb squad and security personnel conducted a thorough inspection of the premises. Police said nothing suspicious was detected during the search. Investigators said the email was sent from an ID claiming to represent an organisation calling itself the Tamil Liberation Organization (TLO). The message alleged that two human bombs would be detonated inside the court between 1 pm and 2 pm and claimed that RDX explosives had been placed at various locations. It also warned that all staff should be evacuated before the stated time.

Police have begun efforts to trace the source of the email and verify its authenticity. Last year, several government offices and airports across Kerala had received similar hoax bomb threat emails, leading to heightened security checks and investigations.
