BJP Announces VV Rajesh as Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Candidate

Thiruvananthapuram: After prolonged uncertainty and internal disagreements, BJP has announced state secretary Adv VV Rajesh as its candidate for the post of Mayor of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Although there had been discussions about appointing former DGP R Sreelekha as mayor, she was dropped following strong opposition within the party.

Significant dissent had emerged among BJP councillors over Sreelekha’s potential candidature. Reports suggest that a section of party leaders even visited her residence to directly convey the internal opposition. With the backing of the RSS faction secured, the party finally settled on VV Rajesh as its mayoral nominee.

Asha Nath has been announced as the BJP’s candidate for the post of Deputy Mayor.
