Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) state secretary M.V. Govindan has alleged that the latest notice issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and former Finance Minister Thomas Isaac over alleged FEMA violations in the KIIFB masala bond issue is a politically driven move timed to influence the upcoming elections. He pointed out that similar notices were issued ahead of previous elections as well. “Kerala clearly understands these political games,” he said.

M.V. Govindan highlighted that KIIFB has led development initiatives worth one lakh crore rupees and that the results are visible statewide. “The projects undertaken through KIIFB can be seen in every part of Kerala. There has been a sustained effort to tarnish KIIFB, which has made effective investments in all 140 constituencies to elevate Kerala’s infrastructure to world-class levels,” he said.

He further remarked that even after earlier notices, the ED never responded to Thomas Isaac’s fundamental question about the reason for the summons. “Now yet again, another notice is being issued. This clearly reflects the BJP’s political stance. The ED notice is part of a broader attempt to destabilize Kerala. This is a direct challenge to the state. The attack on KIIFB is ultimately an attack on Kerala and its development,” M.V. Govindan asserted.
