Kollam: In a renewed example of life-saving organ donation in Kerala, the organs of a 42-year-old man from Chadayamangalam in Kollam will be donated, offering a new lease of life to five patients. The donor, identified as Binu, will donate his heart, liver, kidneys and corneas.

He was first admitted to Government Medical College Hospital, Parippally but was later shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, after his condition worsened. Doctors confirmed brain death on March 13 while he was undergoing treatment.
Following the confirmation of brain death, Binu’s family consented to donate his organs. The recipients were identified through Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (K‑SOTO), which coordinated the organ allocation and transplantation process.

After completing the organ harvesting procedures, the heart will be transported to Kottayam early Sunday, enabling multiple life-saving transplants to take place.
