Thiruvananthapuram: CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam has criticised the UDF government over the reintroduction of power cuts in Keralam, saying that power outages returned to the state along with the change in government.

Speaking to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram, Binoy Viswam said households across the state were being left without electricity for an hour every night, preventing many people from watching the FIFA World Cup matches they had been eagerly waiting for.

He pointed out that Keralam had not experienced power cuts during the LDF government's 10-year tenure and added that the UDF's return to power had brought back darkness instead of ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply.

"The LDF governed Keralam for 10 years without imposing power cuts. The UDF, on the other hand, has driven away light and welcomed darkness," he said.

Binoy Viswam also stated that the government should be able to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, describing it as a basic right of the people.
