Assets Concealment Allegation; Rajeev Chandrashekhar's Nomination Paper Postponed

Thiruvananthapuram: The scrutiny of the nomination paper of BJP State President and Nemom constituency candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar has been temporarily postponed. The returning officer's action follows a complaint that the affidavit filed with the nomination papers did not fully disclose the assets. This news, which comes at a time when tight competition was expected in Nemom, has caused great shock within BJP circles.

The complaint raised alleges that Rajeev Chandrasekhar did not provide accurate details about his assets and shareholdings in the affidavit he submitted. The returning officer, noting that further clarification was needed, temporarily suspended the scrutiny process.

If it is proven that the asset details were concealed, there is a possibility that the affidavit could be rejected. Therefore, the next move by the returning officer is crucial.

The main accusation against Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a former Union Minister, is that he understated his assets, worth crores of rupees, in the affidavit. Similar allegations had been raised against him in the past as well. The BJP leadership has yet to respond officially to the matter.
