Kozhikode: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) state leadership has strongly criticised P.V. Anwar after he declared himself the UDF candidate from Beypore for the upcoming Assembly election, stating clearly that the party does not recognise him as one of its leaders.

The stand was made clear by State president C.G. Unni at a public meeting held in Beypore on Monday evening, where party leaders openly rejected Anwar and distanced themselves from his political claims.

Unni said Anwar had been appointed State Convenor after claiming he could secure up to two hundred seats for the party from the UDF in the local body elections. He alleged that Anwar was now preparing to move to the BJP and said the Trinamool Congress would not accept him as part of the party under any circumstances.

Accusing Anwar of repeatedly changing his political position, Unni said his actions had brought disrepute to the party. “Those who align with the BJP to weaken us will be taught a lesson. Anwar has not submitted any application to join the front, and we will not invite him into the party,” he said.

Unni also accused Anwar of making false promises during the Chelakkara by-election. He said Anwar had claimed he would build new houses after demolishing the homes of eight families, but the families are now left without shelter.

He further said Anwar had falsely claimed that a prominent CPI(M) leader was joining the party. “No such leader came. Instead, he brought in Saji Manjakadamban, who is not a member of the CPI(M),” Unni said.

Alleging that Anwar had acted without authority, Unni said he had unilaterally announced chief coordinators without any approval. He added that the political “drama” being staged by the UDF by aligning with Anwar would be exposed.

Unni said the Trinamool Congress state working committee would meet in Thiruvananthapuram on the 28th to decide the seats the party will contest in Kerala, and candidates would be announced by the end of February.
