Thiruvananthapuram: The 14th State Conference of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) will begin in Thiruvananthapuram today. The three-day conference, being held in the state capital, aims to strengthen the fight against anti-women policies and to raise the spirit of resistance for gender justice and equality.

The conference proceedings will commence this morning at the conference venue with the flag hoisting by PK Sreemathi, Chairperson of the reception committee. Delegates selected from various districts across the state will participate in the conference.

Key issues to be discussed include women’s welfare policies of the central and state governments, the fight against communalism, and women’s safety at workplaces. Extensive publicity campaigns are organised across the city in connection with the conference.

As part of the conference, several seminars will be held with the participation of national and state-level leaders. On the concluding day, January 15, a massive women’s rally and public meeting attended by tens of thousands is scheduled to take place.

Prominent leaders, including AIDWA National President Malini Bhattacharya and General Secretary Mariam Dhawale, will address the conference.
