Actor E. A. Rajendran has Passed Away

Kollam: Renowned actor and director E. A. Rajendran (71) has passed away. He died early this morning at his residence in Pattathanam, Kollam. He had been undergoing treatment for a prolonged illness.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at his native place, Thrithallur in Thrissur.

Rajendran acted in around 60 films, playing character roles as well as villains. He was also active in theatre and television serials, and directed numerous plays. Through the Kalidasa Kalakendram, he brought many classic literary works to life in theatrical form.

Some of his notable films include Kaliyattam, Pranayavarnangal, Pattabhishekam, Thachiledathu Chundan, Narasimham, and Meesha Madhavan.

He was married to Sandhya, daughter of noted theatre personality and social-cultural activist O. Madhavan and renowned theatre actress Vijayakumari. His son, Divyadarshan, is also an actor. Actor and MLA M. Mukesh is his brother-in-law.

The body will be brought home from the hospital around 9 a.m., after which the public will be allowed to pay their respects. There will also be a public viewing at Kalidasa Kalakendram by noon. By evening, the body will be taken to Thrithallur.
