Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) Thiruvananthapuram District Secretary A A Rahim has reiterated his allegation that a firm deal exists between the Congress and the BJP in two constituencies — Thiruvananthapuram Central and Aruvikkara. He stated that the BJP has virtually wound up its campaign activities in Aruvikkara and is instead working on the ground to ensure the victory of Congress candidate V S Sivakumar.

Turning to Thiruvananthapuram Central, Rahim questioned pointedly whether any Congress workers are even visible in the constituency, noting that it was once considered V S Sivakumar's home turf. He alleged that Congress workers in Thiruvananthapuram Central are now actively working for the BJP candidate — a clear indicator, he said, of the quid pro quo arrangement between the two parties.

Rahim also highlighted a telling detail: neither Thiruvananthapuram Central nor Aruvikkara featured in the BJP's first or second candidate lists — both constituencies were added only in the party's final list. This delay, he argued, is itself evidence of the negotiations that preceded the nominations. He further alleged that V S Sivakumar had played a decisive role in helping the BJP capture control of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, and that the current electoral arrangement is him returning favour. He called upon secular voters to open their eyes to this deal and demanded that the Congress-BJP nexus of give-and-take be brought to an end.

Meanwhile, the next phase of LDF election campaign activities in the capital gets underway tomorrow, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan arriving in Thiruvananthapuram to participate in a series of campaign programs. The Chief Minister will attend events in the Aruvikkara constituency, followed by the Vattiyoorkavu constituency at 4 pm, the Nemom constituency at 5 pm, and the Kazhakoottam constituency at 6 pm.
