47 Kozhikode Residents Stranded in Nepal Amid Floods Return Home

Kozhikode: Forty-seven people from Kozhikode who were stranded in Nepal amid the floods returned home on Monday. The group reached Kozhikode around noon. Although they were not directly caught in the flood-hit areas, the disaster indirectly affected their travel plans. They could not reach Kathmandu, which was included in their itinerary. The group members are from Chemancheri, Ulliyeri and Balussery.

The group began its return journey from Bhairahawa by bus at 9 am on Sunday. They received clearance at the check post at 11.30 am and then travelled to Gorakhpur airport. They flew to Bengaluru at 6 pm and reached Bengaluru airport at 8.30 pm, where NORKA officials were present to receive them. The group left Bengaluru by bus around 10 pm and reached home around noon on Monday.

The group had planned to travel from Pokhara to Kathmandu on Thursday morning. At the time of the floods, the group was around 250 km away from the affected area. They had left Kozhikode on August 21 and travelled to Nepal through an agency in Kozhikode to celebrate the Onam holidays.
