Youth Congress leader booked for recording and sharing vote on social media

Thiruvananthapuram: Saithali Kaippadi, Youth Congress Thiruvananthapuram district vice president and former KSU district president, has been booked by police for recording himself voting in the local panchayat elections and sharing the footage on social media. The incident occurred at the fifth ward of Karakulam panchayat, where the video shows her casting votes for Congress candidates in the panchayat, block, and district panchayat elections.
Publishing one’s vote is legally prohibited, as voting is meant to be confidential. A case has been registered under Section 192 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 128 and 132 of the Representation of the People Act.
