Haritha Karma Sena Volunteers Face Threats from Congress, BJP Workers in Kollam

Kollam: During the Kollam local body elections, Congress and BJP members insulted Haritha Karma Sena volunteers who were on duty. They also threatened the volunteers. Complaints have been received by the District Collector and the District Police Chief. The complaints are against Congress worker Sirajudeen, a resident of Kollam, for insulting the volunteers on social media. Complaints have also been filed against NDA candidate from Thamarakulam, Pranav Thamarakulam, for issuing threats.
Pranav Thamarakulam allegedly threatened Haritha Karma Sena volunteers Ancy and Haseena, who were on duty at the booth in Sopanam Auditorium, saying that if he won, he would remove them from the corporation. Congress workers reportedly insulted volunteers who were on duty at the Kadappakkad TKDM School booth. BJP workers also allegedly removed Haritha Karma Sena volunteers from a booth in Iravipuram.
Following the Election Commission’s directive to maintain the “Haritha” protocol, the Haritha Karma Sena was appointed at polling booths to collect biodegradable waste. It was against these volunteers that Congress and BJP workers directed their insults. The Haritha Karma Sena is preparing to file a complaint with the Corporation Secretary regarding the incident.
