Zelenskyy Meets Trump as Ukraine–Russia Conflict Intensifies; Signs of Progress in Peace Plan

Washington DC: As the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to intensify, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with US President Donald Trump. Statements released by both leaders after the meeting indicated progress in a potential peace plan.
The peace talks took place on Sunday night at Trump’s residence in Florida. Reports say Trump had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin, by phone, a day before meeting Zelenskyy.
Even as peace discussions were underway, Ukraine accused Russia of intensifying its attacks on Kyiv. Two people were killed and 32 others injured in missile strikes. According to reports, explosions rocked Kyiv for several hours during the early hours of Saturday.
Zelenskyy alleged that the fresh attacks were proof that Russia has no real interest in ending the conflict.
Earlier on Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin had warned that Russia would intensify its military action if Ukraine did not urgently move toward a peace settlement.
