Washington: The U.S. State Department has approved an emergency arms sale to Israel as the new war in the Middle East intensifies. The decision involves the transfer of 12,000 bomb casings worth 15.18 million dollars (about Rs 1,270 crore).

Although arms sales normally require Congressional approval, Secretary of State Marco Rubio used special authority to authorise the sale given the current war situation.

In addition to weapons, the United States will also provide logistics and technical assistance as part of the sale. Senators have raised serious criticism in Congress against Trump’s war-mongering and imperialist moves.

In addition to opposition Democratic Party leaders, independent senators have also voiced strong criticism of Trump, stating that there is no basis for his claims that Iran was threatening to attack the United States.

This move to provide weapons without Congress’s approval comes even amid opposition from members within Congress itself.

There are strong protests against this unilateral action being carried out without any consultation. As a result, concerns have risen that attacks in West Asia may intensify in the coming days.
