Teen Opens Fire at Thai School, One Killed, Two Injured

Bangkok: In a gun attack that occurred at a public school in Thailand on Wednesday, a 17-year-old student carried out the attack after stealing a gun from a police officer. The attack lasted for over two hours. According to police and local authorities, one person died and two others were injured.
The student, armed with the stolen gun, took students and teachers hostage. The incident took place at Phatong Prathan Keeriwat School near the city of Hat Yai. The student opened fire shortly after classes ended in the afternoon and was only captured after several hours. The attacker was also injured during the incident.
The school director, who sustained severe injuries, later died early Thursday morning at the hospital. One student was also injured in the attack. According to Thailand’s Health Ministry, the student was injured after accidentally jumping from a building while attempting to escape.
Authorities reported that the attacker is a 17-year-old who has a history of consistent drug use. Police arrived at the school after receiving information about a teenager attacking the premises. The student reportedly snatched a gun from an officer and began shooting. The motive behind the crime remains unclear.
