Thiruvananthapuram: The UK had made the decision to hand over Nirav Modi to India, where he faces charges related to a large-scale fraud involving Punjab National Bank. After the court ruling in London, efforts to bring him back to India for trial have resumed. The court pointed out that there were no valid grounds for intervention and that the application did not present any extraordinary circumstances that would justify reconsidering the case.

Following the court's ruling, reports indicate that efforts to hand over Nirav Modi to India have begun. The CBI is currently involved in the case concerning Nirav Modi. His appeal for a review was based on the concern that he would face severe torture from Indian investigative agencies.

Nirav Modi, who fled the country after defrauding Punjab National Bank of Rs 6,498.20 crores, had been previously granted a decision by the UK to hand over him to India. He has been in a UK jail since 2019.
