Gaza: Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza claimed three lives on Sunday, among them a young child, rescue services reported. Meanwhile, international media outlets have reported that Israel's military confirmed one strike had been aimed at a "terrorist" target.

Two people, including four-year-old Muhammad Abdel Salam Taha, died in a strike that hit the town of Al-Zawayda, according to the Hamas-run civil defence rescue service. AFP has reported that the victims and several others injured in the attack were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, also situated in central Gaza.

As per reports, a subsequent strike killed one additional person in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

While a ceasefire agreement, signed in October last year, has curbed the scale of violence in Gaza, it has not brought hostilities to a complete halt. Figures from Gaza's health ministry show that Israeli military operations have killed 1,286 people in the territory since the ceasefire began. In the same period, Israel's military has recorded five deaths among its own soldiers, in addition to one civilian contractor.
