In a follow-up post, the Embassy confirmed that, at the request of the governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka, the evacuation effort would also include their citizens.
"The Embassy’s evacuation efforts in Iran will cover Nepali and Sri Lankan nationals as well. They are urged to urgently contact the Embassy via the Telegram channel or the emergency contact numbers provided," the statement read.
India had launched “Operation Sindhu” on Wednesday to bring back its citizens amid the worsening situation in the region. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported on Saturday that over 500 Indian nationals have been evacuated and returned home under the operation so far.
