Abu Dhabi: Heavy rain, thunder, and lightning were reported in various parts of Abu Dhabi. The rain, which began around 6 a.m. on Monday, continued for an extended period, causing waterlogging in many areas.
Rainfall was widespread across several emirates, including Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Ras Al Khaimah.
Due to the likelihood of reduced visibility on roads, Abu Dhabi Police and Civil Defense authorities have issued a strict advisory urging motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving.
Drivers must strictly adhere to the temporary speed limits displayed on electronic signboards. Abu Dhabi Police also warned that violators will face heavy fines and receive black points on their driving licenses.
The meteorological department has announced that rain is likely to continue in the coming hours. It has also issued an orange alert, and strong winds are blowing in some areas. The National Meteorological Center has warned that, due to the rain, there is a possibility of flash floods in mountainous regions and low-lying areas. Therefore, people are advised to avoid visiting wadis and valleys.
