Beijing: The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that its cooperation with Canada is not aimed at any third parties. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jiyan made this statement in response to remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the trade agreement.

Lin Jiyan clarified that the new strategic partnership between China and Canada is based on equality, peace, and prosperity. He emphasised that it is not intended to target any third parties, but rather to protect the interests of the people of both nations.

Last month, Trump claimed that the trade agreement signed between China and Canada would "swallow Canada." He also threatened to block the opening of the new bridge connecting the United States and Canada. Trump stated that he would not open the Howe International Bridge, which links Ontario, Canada, to the U.S. state of Michigan, until America receives its "justice and respect."
