New Delhi: Film Academy Chairman Resul Pookutty has said that the global film community is closely watching the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), and that plans are being considered to hold editions of the festival abroad. He was speaking in Delhi during the announcement of the 30th edition of the festival, which will begin in Thiruvananthapuram on December 12.

“The new generation is creating astonishing films in Malayalam. Many people across different countries wish to experience IFFK but are unable to travel to Thiruvananthapuram. We are exploring the possibility of hosting a version of the festival in places like Dubai,” said Resul Pookutty.

The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy will organize the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram from December 12 to 19. The festival, held across 16 theatres, is expected to have around 12,000 delegates. Delegate registration can be completed through the link provided on the website registration.iffk.in. The fee for the general category is 1,180 rupees (including GST) and 590 rupees (including GST) for students. Online registration is open for all categories, including general, students, film societies, and film & TV professionals. Delegates may also register in person at the Delegate Cell set up near the Tagore Theatre, the main venue of the festival.

The festival will feature sections such as World Cinema, Indian Cinema Now, Malayalam Cinema Today, Country Focus, and Homage—dedicated to remembering departed film talents. More than a hundred international guests, including directors, technicians, and jury members, will attend the festival.
