Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at a special function. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented the award, which includes a cash prize of 10 lakh rupees, a statuette and a citation.
Expressing his happiness on receiving the honour, Sissako described the award as a defining moment in his life. Recalling his long association with Kerala through cinema, he said it was acclaimed director Shaji N Karun who first introduced him to the State and who has consistently stood by him like a brother in his cinematic journey.
Reflecting on the broader ties between India and Africa, Sissako noted that the two regions share a deep and meaningful relationship, and continue to exist as vast and significant cultural spaces.
