Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Health Minister Veena George intervened immediately after a father’s Facebook comment regarding delays in his daughter’s medical treatment under the government’s Hridyam scheme.
Prakash C., a resident of Palakkad, had commented on one of the Minister’s Facebook posts stating that his daughter, currently undergoing treatment at Amrita Hospital in Ernakulam, had been registered under the Hridyam scheme a month ago but no further steps had been taken. He expressed frustration over the lack of follow-up, despite the urgency of his daughter’s condition.

Within minutes, Minister Veena George responded directly to the comment, assuring that the nodal officer would contact him soon. True to her word, Prakash was contacted by the nodal officer shortly after and was granted permission for a consultation the very next day. Prakash himself confirmed this development in a follow-up comment on the Minister’s post.
Initially, Prakash’s daughter had received treatment at Lisie Hospital in Ernakulam, including a surgery in 2020 under the Hridyam scheme. However, due to Lisie Hospital no longer being listed under the scheme, treatment had been shifted to Amrita Hospital. In his comment, Prakash also highlighted this change in empanelment.
Responding to this, Minister George clarified that Lisie Hospital is still em-panelled under the Hridyam scheme and that the issue would be investigated further.
