Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam film actor Vincy Aloshious has filed a formal complaint with the Film Chamber, naming her co-actor Shine Tom Chacko for "inappropriate behaviour' on the sets of the upcoming movie Soothravakyam. She also lodged a complaint with the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (A.M.M.A), detailing Chacko's misconduct while under the influence of drugs. Film Chamber general secretary Saji Nanthyatt said stringent action would be taken against the actor based on the complaint. A.M.M.A adhoc committee convener Jayan Cherthala confirmed that the association would extend full support to Aloshious on this issue.
At a recent function related to a "No to Drugs" campaign, Aloshious announced she would no longer work with people who use drugs on film sets. Responding to queries, she posted a video on Instagram, explaining that both she and her female colleague faced inappropriate behavior from Chacko. Aloshious shared that when she had an issue with her dress on set, Chacko told her, "I'll fix it for you," in front of everyone, which created an uncomfortable situation. Additionally, she claimed that he was spitting a white powder from his mouth during scene rehearsals, which indicated he was using drugs on set.
Interestingly, Shine Tom Chacko was recently acquitted in a 2015 drug case by the Ernakulam additional sessions court, which cited procedural lapses during the drug seizure and arrest. Vincy Aloshious, a noted Malayalam actor who won the Kerala government's Best Actress Award in 2023 for her role in Rekha, is continuing to speak out against such behavior in the industry.
