Jana Nayagan Online Leak: Cyber Crime Police Arrest Five, CBFC Denies Reports Suggesting Their Involvement in Leak

Chennai: The Tamil film industry is in uproar following the illegal online leak of Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay and directed by H Vinoth, with cyber crime police launching an investigation based on a complaint filed by producers KVN Productions. Five people have been taken into custody for illegally circulating links to the film on WhatsApp and other social media platforms. Police are continuing efforts to identify all others involved in the distribution of the leaked content.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, Vijay's party, has alleged that Union Minister L Murugan and Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin are behind the leak — an allegation that has added a sharp political dimension to what is otherwise a criminal copyright matter.

Reports suggesting that the leak originated from within the Central Board of Film Certification have been officially denied. CBFC authorities stated that all such reports are baseless and misleading, pointing out that films submitted for certification are protected by password-based high-security codes. They also clarified that the DCP copy submitted by the producers was returned to the applicant on March 17.

The incident has drawn strong reactions from across Tamil cinema, with superstars Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Suriya among those who publicly expressed their outrage and demanded stringent measures against copyright violations.
