Ambalapuzha: The lifeless body of young cycle polo player Nida Fatima arrived at Nedumbassery airport from Nagpur, where she had been to contest national championship but died tragically after consuming food purchased locally.
Nida’s body was carried from the airport to her school in Ambalapuzha, where she is being laid up until 10 am for farewell from school mates, faculty and public. After rites, her body shall be buried at 12.30 this noon.
Postmortem on Nida was completed on Friday after which, her father received the body. The State Sports Council sanctioned Rs 5 lakh toward transportation of the body back home.
Minister V Sivankutty has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde asking for detailed probe into circumstances surrounding Nida’s death. The letter alleged that the deceased child did not receive adequate medical care, an aspect, the minister said, must become part of the probe. The letter concludes assuring full cooperation on part of Kerala government towards investigations.
