Manama : A four-tier traffic-light style mechanism to assess the Covid-19 spread will be implemented in Bahrain. In accordance with this the authorities announced a partial reopening starting from July 2. It is part of the yellow-level lockdown based on the dropping numbers over the last seven days.

The new mechanism will signal what facilities and services will be available to the public, the National Taskforce for Combating Covid-19 announced on Wednesday night. It will be consists of four levels based on the average percentage of positive cases out of daily Covid-19 tests. And  the four levels will be green, yellow, orange and red, they said.

When the average percentage of positive Covid-19 cases exceeds eight over any three-day period in the county, a red-level lockdown will be clamped.

If the average percentage is between five and eight over a five-day period, the country will go into an orange level lockdown.

When the average percentage is between two and five over a seven-day period, the yellow level lockdown will be imposed.

And if the percentage remains below two over a 14-day period, green level Covid-19 guidelines will be in effect.

During yellow-level lockdown, which will come into force on Friday, entry to malls, indoor and outdoor dining facilities, salons, shops and spas, gyms and sporting amusement parks, sports centres, sporting events and conferences will be limited to Covid-19 vaccinated and recovered individuals. Children below 12 years must be accompanied by a vaccinated or recovered adult.

Non-vaccinated individuals can attend schools in-person, enter shops outside malls, enter government centres and be part of events of up to 30 individuals, the committee said.

Cinemas will be limited to 50 percent of the total capacity.

All educational and training institutions will have the option of in-person or distance learning for both vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals.

Under the green level, entry to most facilities will be open to vaccinated and non-vaccinated people. Restaurants, cafes, gyms, pools, shops, amusement parks, government centres, malls, barber shops, spas, salons, and outdoor events will open.
