New Delhi : In latest setback to Congress wagon, former Uttarakhand State President for the party has switched loyalties to BJP. He accepted the saffron membership shortly after submitting his resignation from Congress. With elections looming, the switch is a telling blow to congress.

Upadhaya said, he remained sidelined in the Congress despite 45 years of his steadfast stand by the party. If he should be given a ticket for contest is for BJP to decide, Upadhaya reflected on prospects now on. According to general view, Upadhya will most likely get fielded from constituency of Tehri.

A crucial exit last week came from former Deputy Home Minister Ratanjith Prathap Narein Singh, who severed Congress ties and moved over to BJP. With barely days left for UP elections, the exit spelt huge setback for Congress.
