T. Sivadasa Menon Passes Away

Palakkad : Senior CPI(M) leader and former minister T. Sivadasa Menon passes away aged 90.  The end came 11.30 am Tuesday at Kozhikode’s NIMS hospital  while under treatment for age related illnesses.

Sivadasa Menon has served as secretary to CPI(M) State Committee, Secretariat and Jilla Committee. He was State Minister for electricity in EK Nayanar government of 1987. Sivadasa Menon twice won from Malambuzha constituency and has also shone as  Deputy Whip of Opposition.

Sivadas was born in Palakkad’s Mannarkkad in 1932 and entered politics by organising teachers in aided schools while working in KTM Hgh School in Mannarkkad.  Sivadasa  took voluntary retirement from service in 1977 and contested Lok Sabha polls that he lost then, later in 1980 and 1984.

Sivadasa Menon’s wife P. Bhavanimamma predeceased him. The left veteran is survived by daughters Lakshmidevi and Kalyani.
