Thrissur : Despite the Covid crisis confronted by state, a total of 3247 new enterprises in the small and medium category have come into being after the new government took charge this year – an accomplishment that brought about Rs 373 crores in investments, said Industries Minister P. Rajeev. The government aimed to generate 10,000 jobs via its 100 Days Programme while total jobs generated in the period touched 13,209 -  proof there exists  business-conducive environment in the state, said P Rajeev. The minister was speaking at Meet The Minister event in Thrissur, organised to hear out  grievances of people wishing to  starti business enterprises.

Responsible business, Responsible investment – that’s the government motto. A 3-member committee has been set up to study if there exist lapses related to the business sector. The committee will prepare its report in three-months time. Anyone who feels there is want of upgradations in any area pertaining to the industrial sector, may present their perspective to the committee. The suggestions will be examined closely and changes effected wherever required. Five  IAS officers in each of the districts have been entrusted with fixing up  such issues.

The previous government passed crucial legislations to speed up the process of starting business in the  state. The resultant change has been tremendous. All decisions should adhere to  the laws and rules.  Creating blockades for businesses shall not be tolerated at all. Collecting money for services is not enough. Non-rendering of services amounts to corruption, the minister said.

These kind of adalats by ministers are necessitated owing to lack of efficacy of official systems. Complaints received during adalats convened in 6 districts earlier are being addressed. A portal shall soon be set up for people to track what follow-up action there has been on their grievances, the minister said.
