Thiruvananthapuram : 57 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 today, of whom 55 are arrivals from outside. There were 18 recoveries reported in the day.
District-wise breakup for new infections : Malappuram -14; Thrissur - 9, Kollam - 5; Pathanamthitta - 4; Thiruvananthapuram - 3; Ernakulam -3; Alappuzha - 2; Palakkad - 2 and Idduki - 1.
Of the 55 new patients, 27 arrived from overseas and 28 from outside states. One among them is an Air India employee and another, a health worker.
One more person succumbed to coronavirus today, taking the death toll so far to 10 in the state. The tally for total infections in the state up to now figures to 1,326. There are 708 people under treatment currently.
A total of 1,39,661 are presently under observation. From those being monitored, 1,38,979 people remain in their homes while 1,246 are quarantined in hospitals. 174 new admissions were made into different hospitals today.
No presence of virus was detected in 65,273 of the total 68,979 samples tested so far. 13,470 samples came from the high-risk category. However 13,037 from them tested negative for Covid-19.
There are 121 hotspots currently across the state. Five new hotspots were declared today in districts of Palakkad and Kannur.
Nine Malayalis died from the infection in overseas countries today. The total for Malayali deaths abroad now stands at 210.
Malayalis continue to succumb to coronavirus in various states outside Kerala, with relatives here unable to make it to the funerals. At the press briefing this evening, Chief Minister expressed condolences for families of the dead.
