Thiruvananthapuram : There were 121 fresh cases of Covid-19 recorded during the day and 19 recoveries, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the late evening media briefing on pandemic situation in the state. Tests on Tamil man who died during the day turned out positive, the minister added.
Of the day’s new infections, 78 were imported while 26 involved incomers from states outside. 5 people contracted the infection via direct contact. 3 health workers tested positive for the virus during the day.
5244 samples were sent for tests during the past 24 hours. A total of 4311 cases were confirmed positive in the state since the outbreak first began in January.
There are 2057 people currently under treatment and a total of 1,80,617 people under observation. While 2662 people are being monitored in the hospital and rest in their homes or covid centres, 281 people were admitted into the hospital during the day for observation purpose, said CM.
