Kochi : The High Court on Thursday relaxed bail conditions for Karai Rajan and Karai Chandrashekar - accused in Thallassery’s Fazal murder case. They can both enter Kannur district from now. Current restrictions will remain for another 3 months. The Court also directed both men to cooperate with the investigations.
Karai Rajan and Karai Chandrashekar had petitioned the court seeking relaxation to their original bail conditions that forbade them from leaving Ernakulam district.
The ruling comes after Justice Ashok Manoharan dismissed CBI argument against allowing relaxations of any kind. The duo were granted bail in 2013 with condition that they will not leave Ernakulam district. With High Court ordering re-investigation, petition has been filed seeking to postpone trial and there is no need to ban entry into Kannur, onbserved the Court.
The suspects have sought postponement of trial and could influence witnesses; bail conditions should not be relaxed, CBI said in its argument.
