Kochi: As part of Seed APJ Abdul Kalam School of Environmental Design's annual festival, SEEDGIST, the SEEDSCAPE exhibition featuring the architectural works of over 200 architecture students of the school began at Ismail Warehouse, Jew Town Road, Mattancherry. Kochi Biennale Foundation president Bose Krishnamachari inaugurated the event on Saturday. Curated by Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy Chairman Murali Cheeroth, the exhibition will last till April 12.
Apart from the exhibition, an intricately crafted bamboo pavilion created in association with Thumb Impressions Collaborative, Ahmedabad and a 750 square foot modern mural work done in association with Aravani Art Project, Bangalore have already been created at the site. Workshops led by Sriram Pradeep in film making and textile design by Soumya Pandey will also be held as part of the show.
Panel discussions led by architects Soumitro Ghosh, Abin Chaudhary, Amrita Ballal and Mahesh Radhakrishnan will also be held as part of the exhibition. They will also evaluate the works at the exhibition.
As part of the exhibition, April 8 will be celebrated as Gender Parity Day in Architecture in the country in recognition of the increasing number of girls studying and working in architecture. ArchitecturalLIVE and Leewardists will participate in it. A book on this topic will also be released on April 8.
