Surrounded By Royals, Queen Elizabeth II Dies Aged 96

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest serving monarch, has Died aged 96. The end came at Balmoral Castle- her estate in the Scottish Highlands. The queen's death marks end of a reign that spanned seven decades making her the most recognised woman in the world.

The queen suffered mobility issues in recent months and was mostly confined to Windsor Castle - the family’s country estate near London.  

The queen was kept under medical supervision early Thursday. After being notified by doctors of her deteriorating condition, royals rushed to be her bedside including her grandson Prince William, who is now the heir apparent. Prince Harry, was already in UK for a charity also traveled to Balmoral.

Prince Charles, the Queen’s oldest son immediately became King of the United Kingdom upon death of his mother. He will return to London on Friday.
