New Delhi : Gap between two doses of Covishield may be stretched from 12 to 16 weeks, the national  panel for immunisation informed Thursday. The earlier guideline put 2nd dose between 6 and 8 weeks after the 1st.  Gap recommendation for Covaxin remains unchanged.

The panel advised vaccines for pregnant women and feeding mothers too. The recommendations came from the National Technical Advisory Committee on Immunisation.  Persons who might have recovered from Covid need to be injected only 6 months after recovery . The previous advice was for them to avail vaccination 12 days after recovery. Those subject to plasma therapy may accept vaccine after 12 weeks. Persons who might have suffered serious health conditions can receive the vaccine from 4 to 8 weeks after recuperating.
