Thiruvananthapuram : Throughout history, the communist establishment worked to preserve religious harmony and isolate communal forces, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Several communists have laid their lives along that way. UK Kunjuraman is one of the most luminous names among those martyrs, said CM in Facebook post on Wednesday.
During communal riots in Thalassery, Comrade Kunjuraman headed a communist squad that pushed back Sangh Parivar attacks against minorities, in revenge of which the fanatics murdered him. Each Keralite is thus deeply indebted to Com. Kunjraman for the religious harmony we experience today.
Today is Comrade Kunjuraman's martyr’s day. His glowing memories will prove to be strength and guiding light against communal fanaticism. It’s a reminder to us that running through veins of each communist is humanity that transcends all differences. Let’s go forward imbibing that awareness and taking up responsibilities. My deep respects to the memory of Com. UK Kunjuraman, wrote CM.
