Thiruvananthapuram : There has been no decision on stopping free ration kits altogether, said Food and Civil Supplies Minister, GR Anil. Undoubtedly, there is financial burden involved in distribution of kits. A decision will be taken taking into account this factor too, the minister said.
There has been call from several quarters for limiting distribution of kits to the needy sections. Discussions shall be held for considering priority class alone for the free kit scheme. When the pandemic broke out, government took a uniform view for everybody and commenced free kit distribution for all sections to prevent starvation. Further decisions in this regard will be arrived at after discussions, the minister told media.
