Kasaragod : MV Balakrishnan is once again elected as Jilla Secretary for CPI(M) in Kasaragod. He is presently member of State Committee. The selection came about at CPI(M) District Sammelanam that culminated in Ambalathukar in Madikayil at K Balakrishnan Nagar Friday night.
Balakrishnan has served as Khadi Board Vice Chairman and Kasaragod Jill Panchayat President. He was also NRG Workers Union, State General Secretary. Balakrishnan was inducted into the party’s Jilla Committee in 1984 and became its Secretary in 1996. Balakrishnan had resigned his jobas Principal of Cheruvathur Koval UP School to enter politics fulltime.
Balakrishnan debuted into politics via KSY. It was the time when he served as Local Secretary in Chemenni that Congress workers killed 5 CPI(M) members at one go. He lend powerful leadership to fight Congress violence in the area. Balakrishnan also served as member to Karshaka Thozhilali Union State Committee, Jilla Secretary and All India Working Committee member. He was Chemeni Panchayat President for over 12 years and has received award for Best Panchayat President. The 70-year-old is also Secretary of Chamber of Jilla Panchayat President.
