Kottakkal : Police on Sunday registered case against Kottakkal Municipal Chief and  Muslim League workers for gathering to inaugurate a re-innovated road there. The case is suo motu.

In gross violation of rule that prohibits gathering and mandates masks, members of Trader’s (Vyapari) Association and Municipal Chief had  people in large numbers flocking to BH road -  re-innovated by brick-layer plastering - for celebrations. Hundreds formed part of the inaugural procession  taken out from the bus stand at the venue to Municipal office.

Revelers from the Municipality  included its Vice-president, Councilors, District Representative from Vyapari Association and Unit members of the Association. In the League-ruled Municipality  of Manjeri, an office building was inaugurated in similar fashion with hundreds in attendance just last week.

Much of the crowd in Kottakkal gathering wore no masks. These brazen violations, led by authorities themselves, come amid dire pandemic situation in the state where half of daily infections occurring lately are through contact.
