Thiruvanantahpuram : The court on Friday pronounced guilty the two accused in the 2018 murder of foreign woman tourist in Kovalam. The culprits are Vazhamuttam native Udayan and staff at care facility, Umesh.
The crime dates back to 14 March of 2018. On that day, posing to be tourist guide, the accused men conned the Latvian woman out of an Ayurveda resort in Pothencode, to go with them. They led her to a deserted mangrove stretch in Kovalam where they gave her drugs and raped her. The victim’s sister, who was also an inmate of the resort at the time, lodged a missing complaint. The decomposed body of the woman was found under Mangrove bush after 36 days.
The Additional District Sessions Court pronounced the guilty verdict. Quantum sentencing on Monday.
