Web Desk(Tvm)Updated: Saturday Jan 28, 2023

Idukki : A marauding elephant prowls Idukki’s Suryanelli village again, this time trampling a native’s house partly.  The wrecked house belongs to Rajeshwari residing in Blram. Meanwhile a elephant herd camped inside the cardamom plantation yesterday was driven out of  the estate, but has so far, refused to retreat deeper into the forest.

Wild elephant attacks in human settlements have been frequent at Mathitta Chola for a while now.  Houses and shops were wrecked in attacks that took place in  BLram and Paniar estate yesterday morning. A forest watcher, Shaktivel was tragically killed by an elephant two days ago, as he tried to chase the tuskers out of the estate he was guarding.
