Famed Ghazal Singer Bhupinder Singh Passes Away Aged 82

Mumbai :  Famous ghazal singer Bhupinder Singh who lend soulful voice to classics like “Naam Gumm Jayega” and “Dil Dhoondtha Hai Phir Wahi”,  passed away Monday morning following cardiac arrest. He was 82.

Bhupinder started his career working with All India Radio and Doordarshan until he was spotted by music composer Madan Mohan at one of the the All India Radio parties. His Bollywood debut was singh for the 1964 chetan Anand directed “Haqeeqat” where he sang the Mohan-composed track “Hoke Majboor Mujhe” that struck a cord with music lovers and his career soared.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condoled the singer’s death saying his voice was revered by millions of music lovers. Condolences from friends, fraternity and fans is filling social media.

The funeral will be held past midnight Tuesday.
